Fathers’ UpLift

Mental health clinic supporting fathers—especially men of color—through therapy, coaching, and community care. Empowering fathers to reconnect with their children and break cycles of trauma and absence.

The challenge

In the U.S., fathers—particularly men of color—face immense systemic, social, and emotional barriers to being present and engaged in their children’s lives. From stigma and trauma to economic instability and incarceration, these challenges contribute to cycles of fatherlessness, poor mental health, and family instability. Traditional mental health systems often overlook the unique needs of fathers, leaving many without adequate support.

Turning challenge into opportunity

Fathers’ UpLift is the first mental health and substance use treatment clinic in the United States specifically focused on supporting fathers, particularly men of color — who are working to overcome the emotional and systemic barriers that prevent them from being present in their children’s lives.

The organization was founded to fill a critical gap: while many services support mothers and children, few are designed for fathers navigating trauma, incarceration, addiction, or societal stigma. Fathers’ UpLift offers a comprehensive, trauma-informed care model that blends therapy, coaching, peer mentorship, and practical support to help men process pain, rebuild self-worth, and develop the emotional tools needed to show up for their families.

Their community-based model goes beyond traditional therapy. It recognizes the unique lived experiences of each father and addresses the root causes—structural racism, poverty, criminal justice involvement, and generational trauma—that have too often kept men on the margins of family life. By treating emotional wounds and nurturing fatherhood as a path to healing, Fathers’ UpLift not only transforms individual lives but also strengthens entire families and communities.

Through this work, Fathers’ UpLift is redefining mental health support—centering love, accountability, and inclusion—and proving that when fathers heal, families thrive.
